Thanks for that - never heard of barchart, but a quick look and it seems like it might do the job, though I'll still have to copy and paste data one day at a time into a spreadsheet. Still hoping to find a downloadable list out there somewhere...
Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to download a list of upcoming earnings reports dates for all US stocks? (I know I can get individual ones from EarningsWhispers, but I'd much prefer something I can use in a spreadsheet.) Thanks in advance.
From IB chat just now:
"Margin account is available only for Corporate registered in Australia."
Looks like it might be the way to go - create a company of one person and then
the margin acct. According to IB I don't have to use margin in the account either.
Just one (major) problem Robert - as an Australian (not sure about other countries) IB won't allow me
to open a margin account. Btw using margin aren't you paying a bunch of money in interest?
I've recently started trading covered calls with Interactive Brokers
and find that I can't use cash from a position I've just closed until
three days afterwards due to the 'T + 3' rule. Is this the same for
all the big online brokers? (I'm based in Australia btw.)
Actually I'm using batch files with gwebcmd. I must have done my downloads at a bad time before - just did them again and it took about one minute :) I tried using it with Yahoo before but kept getting timeout messages. Yahoo is useful however for saving a list of stocks and using it to copy...
I'm using Alan Ellman's 'Return on Option' formula to try
and find good covered call trades, so I'll be loading them
into Excel and sorting them based on that. Nasdaq.com
is very slow though - took me 100 minutes to d/l data
for 140 stocks!
I'm looking at using a program to download options chain data from Nasdaq.com.
I'd be downloading data for several hundred companies and thus thousands of
option strikes - does anyone know if that would be likely to get me banned from
the site?
