Stocktrader...didn't you once (recently) decry "derivatives" trading? And now you're recommending specific options trades? Right or wrong, I don't see too many other posters out there going on and on about how right they were when they called certain things, giving continuous "portfolio"...

Cross locked is say 36.85 bid, and 36.83 offer, and the stock is clearly trading at 36.83 or lower because you can see prints on the tape at these prices. Simply put, the 36.85 bid is "bad" and sometimes doesn't move for awhile. It seems to happen in ETFs quite a bit. Locked is 36.85 bid, 36.85...

Today I had a stop order in QID just sit there because the market was cross locked...another thing to keep in mind. Scottrade apparently won't execute orders if the market is locked or cross locked, nevermind that the stock could have traded at your stop price and proceeded to fall like a rock...

From what I've seen it's very hard to hang your broker on poor fills for stop loss orders that you had out there. They are big on quoting the "rules" of NYSE vs. Nasdaq regarding stop losses and why/when they will be triggered and try to explain away poor fills with "liquidity" or lack of...

If "fake" quotes existed in this day and age, this would have been tackled by Barney Frank and a dozen subcommittees in DC. Just think about it for a minute. Are "games" still being played? Absolutely. But as one poster said earlier...hit or take one of those "fake" markets....it's there!

This is one bizarre thread. "Fake bids and asks" I love it. MAYBE you could have written this thread in 1993 and I may have believed that part of it.

I'm a new customer of ESignal and recently installed version 10.0. I haven't used the software yet during market hours, I've only used it in the evening. However, I've had serious recurring problems with the product crashing when I attempt to toggle from one page to another that I have created...
