Solutions for Firewall Obstacle at work

Thank You for that advice. BTW - I brought in my laptop and was able to connect through my company's wireless lan to AMP/CQG. Weird that I can through the wireless, but not my ethernet connection on my desktop. Next, I'll ethernet thru my laptop to see if that works, then i'll know it's...

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

i was scared when i thought that buying 1 contract meant going on margin for over 100k, given the value of one contract. but one poster explained it better and now i feel ok with the risk of doing 1-contract trades. i understand i would lose 12.50/tick of loss on each contract. i'm...

Solutions for Firewall Obstacle at work

i'm using AMP/Ninja Trader, which seems like a great tool. I just found out that my firewall at work won't let me connect to CGQ. I spoke to AMP and they suggested this was the problem, which makes sense. It works fine on my home laptop. Looks like I'll have to bring in my laptop and CLEAR...

    Night session Globex day traders

i'm very interested in this thread, as i am new to futures and one thing that attracts me is the off-hours trading. i was poking around in 6E market mon eve (july 4 holiday). i was looking at 1 & 3-min charts on 6E and tried to get on a few swings in my Simulated account and ended up losing...

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

it's becoming clearer. i've definitely seen the $12.50/tick mentioned everywhere. i just didn't understand if that had to be multiplied by some factor to get your total gain or loss per contract. i see that if i had bought 2 contracts that lost 1 tick each, i'd be down $25.00 of my 10k...

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

nkhoi - i like what you're saying. can you spell it out for me: let's say I have a 10K account balance all cash I go long one 6E contract, which is worth 180K this am (or whatever it's worth - it's much more than my acct bal). The contract goes down 1 tick intraday, and i'm still...

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

Thanks for these responses. I can see that I will need to trade just 1 contract at a time. Even at that, i will be going into margin. still, going on margin is scary. i've read that for futures, you have to pay it back by end of day. this would eat into my acct balance for any daily losses...

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

thanks for that info on the es. i did think it was 1300/contract. didn't know about multiplying that by 50. do you know the cost of the 6E?

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

I understand pricing on ES is about $1300/contract. i'm confused about the 6E series. Sorry if I said ES instead of 6E in my question.

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

thanks for the link. i had found that myself, but being new to futures, i still don't understand what 1 ES contract costs in actual dollars. i know the price changes tick-by-tick. but, it must be some multiple of the price quoted, right? i see that a contract is 125,000 euros. does this mean the...

what is actual cost of 1 6E contract?

i'm confused by the pricing. It's like 1.3296/contract. In options, I would multiply that by 100 to get $132.96 actual cost/contract. But, I don't understand the multiplier for these futures contracts. Furthermore, I'm told I only need a $500 account balance to trade them, which I know...
