I also started with scottrade a number of years ago….hmmm I found the transaction costs to be to high and the executions to slow… executions were especial slow when shorting. Your round trip cost for 200 shares at scottraed is $14, this is a real killer, at IB you would only be paying...

I moved from scottrade to IB two years ago the commissions are good and order execution is excellent. However If you are planning to daytrade and or short stocks you will need $25,000 minimum in a margin account:cool:

I did well in gold mining stock 23 years ago got in at 350 and out at 750. While gold went from 350 to 850 the rise in mining stock was much grater, typically a $2.00 stock would go to $25.00 or more. Maybe it is time for a replay! I am in.:)

I have read threads on the forums regarding adding and taking liquidity on the ECNs. Apparently the ECNs pay for added liquidity and charge for taking liquidity. How…. Does one add or take liquidity?? I am new to trading and do not know a lot as yet, so thanks for responding.

Buying 100 shares on IB at $1 commissions means it goes 1 cent and I break even. Prox; Does it cost you another $1 commission to sell? If so you are not even until the shares go up 2 cents. Would a 2500 share roundtrip cost $50.00 not $25.00
