    Help - Data Visualization Software

You can try to look into TIBCO Spotfire Silver. They were letting people try it out for free months ago. Tableau is much prettier than Spotfire but Spotfire is very easy to use.

    So Cal Prop Trader

What a shame, I just discovered your journal and have been reading through it and now tonight is your last entry. Best of luck with your trading.

Grinding it out, day after day

Hey Lescor, Thanks again for keeping up this thread. The discussion has really been great. I think you've indicated that you are Canadian/reside in Canada now. Assuming that is the case, I have two questions related to that. First, do you trade Canadian equities? With everyone...

Grinding it out, day after day

The Olympics in Canada are being shown on CTV/TSN/Rogers Sportsnet. CBC doesn't have any of it.

BAR BY BAR -- Al Brooks

He's not necessarily talking about tick charts. On Page 1, he defines tick as "The smallest unit of change is the tick, which has a different value for each market. Incidentally, a tick has two meanings. It is the smallest unit of change in price that a market can make, and it is also every...

Grinding it out, day after day

Lescor, Can you speak a bit about the difference between viewing trading as a mathematical/technical endeavor vs a crowd psychology exercise? I find myself wavering between the two, sometimes emphasizing specific S/R, candlesticks and T/A formations at the expense of trying to understand...

BAR BY BAR -- Al Brooks

Ugh, so much time to read the 10 pages of this thread to get these gems. Thanks for including them. The writing style is tedious but I can certainly see the value of suffering through it.

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

I'm most of the way through Trading in the Zone right now and I agree with all of Lurefo's comments. I do think, though, that playing your last trade of the day conservatively is part of the process of building trust in oneself and I see it no differently than reducing your trade size after a...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

I'm reading Trading in the Zone now and he talks about how a trader needs to view each trade as a discrete event, unaffected by previous trades or the state of one's P/L for the day. So in that sense, you should have executed your final trade with a less tight stop. But at the same time, the...

Career advise... Am I getting Screw D?

I have trouble imagining how something that was "no biggie" was significant enough to turn ugly. There's more to this story then you've mentioned.

How many/what positions do you day trade?

New to ET and I've been trading off and on for about a year, with a mixture of swing and day trading. I'm curious about how people day trade: 1) Do you focus on a single stock/etf day after day? 2) Do you monitor multiple stocks for entries simultaneously? If so, how many? 3) Do you...

Never let a profit turn into a loss. (Good or bad advice)?

I'm relatively new to trading with ~500 trades in the past year, so I'm certainly not speaking as an expert. But personally speaking, I've had many, many winners turn into losers. If I had taken the easy profits on each of those positions, I would be a lot better off. And to be honest, few...

    Canadian live quote?

I couldn't agree more. Their current investing platform is a joke. Something out of the 90's. IB is what I use for trading the Canadian market and I'm not aware of any free source for RT quotes.

    Canadian live quote?

ThinkOrSwim.ca doesn't work with Canadian markets, only US and only USD. I'm eagerly awaiting them to introduce Canadian markets, especially after being bought by TD Canada, but I've seen no news about it happening anytime soon.
