Hey thanks for your answer you're right I'll leave scalping off the DOM idea for now also another friend advised me not to, what you write about Sierra chart is interesting, can I ask what broker are you using? I read on Sierra chart's website that it might be difficult to connect to IB (my...
The longer time frame is hourly? Do you swing trade futures instead of shorter term trading it? I think you're right I'll start with simpler day trading instead of futures
Thanks!
Hey Mark thank you for your answer wow that sounds complicated would you still recommend someone who's new to this to deep dive into connecting Sierra charts with IB or maybe just go with another platform? Sierra charts features seem very impressive and for a competitive price but for me too the...
Hey thanks for your answer
That's interesting and sounds like it's working well for you
What is your style of trading, do you day trade or do longer-term traders?
Do you use Level 2?
Thanks!
You're right I see what you mean now. I see retailers on YouTube claiming they're profitable scalpers and not using advanced tools to my knowledge, just Jigsaw, but I don't know anyone personally who's profitable
And thanks Bad_Badness for your insights!
Hey guys,
I'm checking out Sierra Chart and would like to try it out, connecting it to my broker IB, but I was a bit put off by a long page on their website stating all the potential difficulties of retrieving data from IB.
As I understand you can pay SC for data, but if you want level 2 it...
So you think retail traders never succeed in futures trading?
Yes Bad_Badness thanks for the info I'm familiar with TWS, I just honestly don't like their charting, it always freezes when scrolling. But there's something nice I like there which is the ability to open new tabs for different...
Yes, futures, I'm interested in stocks too but didn't want to overcomplicate it in one thread.
And thanks that makes sense paying for the data
You mean using Sierra chart instead of Jigsaw?
Thanks a lot guys
I'm a bit confused, when you talk about Ninjatrader or Quantower, you mean using its DOM instead of using Jigsaw altogether? I thought that DOM / Order Flow is the most important thing to read from when scalping futures?
I think with Quantower you still need to pay IB for...
Hey guys,
Very glad to be on this forum.
I want to scalp futures and I'm a total noob at this point, so of course I'd like to do SIM first.
I've looked into Jigsaw, but some people here recommended X.Trader (by TradingTechnologies) over Jigsaw, although I didn't even understand the pricing...
The market doesn't care but what I guess Nobert means by "depends on how deep in the red you are" is that if the stocks OP hold are very oversold, it might be a good idea to hold them at this point, in hope they'll comeback.
Of course it depends what stocks...
Hey guys,
I'm trying to create a hotkey to generate a bracket order (buy, stop, and take profit).
In addition I want to buy according to certain capital and not number of shares.
To do that, I changed the default buy sizing to 800USD instead of 100 shares. That way when I press the hotkey to...
