Do large banks and institutions use TA to profit?

Ok cool.. My point was.. from what I've read, Surf's idea is that anyone that uses price alone is lost in the wilderness. And, from the last time we chatted, it seemed you were doing pretty good with what you were doing. So, I was scratching my head as to why you seemed to be defending him...

Do large banks and institutions use TA to profit?

Try not to take this the wrong way. But, you don't look at any fundamentals right? Not even news announcements? And you use moving averages and momentum analysis? How is that not TA?

    Mentoring JL

Don't mind my comment. I don't usually go into journals. But, this one caught my eye in Psychology. @JoshLowe005: If anyone becomes overly annoying, you can use the 'Report' feature to make a complaint. I've never used it yet. But, it's my understanding that the mods respond well. Have fun!

I have bought Al Brooks' Trading Course

Doesn't it seem that the premise and conclusion to your "ample evidence" is that: "If data can be produced randomly, then all data is random." What's wrong with that statement? I mean they use a simulator to produce random data, then they say "see... it's all random.. Or they say, "Oh look...

I have bought Al Brooks' Trading Course

@marketsurfer Do you mind explaining how companies use the future to make forecasts? Because at the speed in which trading takes place these days, it's all very much in the past as soon as it hits the public.

    Is this TA?

In another thread, you stated "market internals reveals massive bearish sentiment". A contrarian might believe otherwise... Some might say that your "market internals" are subject to interpretation. So, in the mind of Surf, how is that different than "descriptive TA"? I'm curious...

Do you mind posting more stats? It's hard to even try to guess, otherwise. I'll help stir up some ideas for you.. 5 yrs vs 10 yrs - How many signals were there? - How many were long vs short? - What do the curves look like? - avg gain vs avg loss? - max gain vs max loss? - if you plotted the...
