    Who Is Don Bright?

I'm at Echo, spent some time in an office many years ago before I went remote. From what I have heard over here from guys coming and going is that many guys come here for rates and software - Don talks about when Redi was in disrepair in a previous post, that seems to be very true, a lot of...

    Fast trade exeuction

If you are willing to go prop --> http://www.echotradeonline.com Have to have enough in funds that they allow you on the direct servers, not running through Echopro (Sterling) API. Any API running alongside a trading platform stinks for that matter for high-frequency trading... Their...

    Who Is Don Bright?

Echo is much cheaper than Bright. There are a lot of former Bright guys at Echo, mainly because of rates/software/blackbox access. From what I have seen Bright is the best place for a newbie to go to because they have training and Echo does not. It is far better to pay a higher rate and...

    Who Is Don Bright?

I don't think Don should take all the heat he gets on this board, it is very nice that someone in his position is so active here thoughtfully answering questions from newbies about prop trading and such. So he pumps his own firm, there's nothing wrong with that, no one can expect anyone to pump...

    Who Is Don Bright?

Good timing on a Don Bright thread as it appears he just hit the 10,000 post mark, possibly on this thread. Not sure if there was any fanfare or celebration to mark the event, sorry I missed it if there was, let me possibly be the first to say congrats Don! Somewhere I do have a "Dow 10,000"...

US loan defaults hit record level

This was a thread on credit card defaults. It's really kind of sad how every thread on elite these days degrades into a political argument between reps and dems. This thread did it all on the first page. This is a non-voting year, we get so much of it already, we should have a rule that in...

    dykstra declared bankruptcy.

He's going to have another lawsuit if Donald Trump hears what he keeps saying, that letter Dykstra put out said Trump filed BK 2 times, and on CNBC he said Trump filed BK 6 times. If memory serves correct, Trump sued a book writer or someone who had said that Trump filed BK, even though we...

    dykstra declared bankruptcy.

Because Cramer keeps touting him as some super options trading guru. Another fabulous Cramer pick. You know, like many of you, I sit here with stupid CNBC on all day, as torturous as it is, and a couple of times when I am sitting here late and Cramer has come on I got sucked into playing a...

Dejavu. Check out this Time article of 1938

Sorry but looks like you are the one who needs to answer these questions yourself. Why do people like you mess up a good thread like this, these historical articles are great. Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. Why do so many people like you trah these boards with...

Will series 7 greatly improve my chances of getting hired?

I disagree, I think if you go to one of the many prop firms that will let you get a 7 through them, then hit the job mkt with that on your resume that will help. Would try and stay on the books at a prop for 4-5 mos, even if you don't trade, just as a resume builder and to explain why you got...

    Reliable Prop Firms ?

Echotrade and Bright Trading, which are the only two firms I recommend to people.

    echotrade min required to start?

OK, Don let's hear it, how much of a trader's $4K a month do you actually keep? I pay a LOT more than this each month (with a lower rate than this), and I am not naive enough to believe that is all profit for the firm. They have costs to clear trades, execute trades, pay staff, office space...

    Are prop firms really bucketshops?

You know, I have always wondered that as well. It probably should be a thread of its own but I cannot figure out with forex if there are ECN-type marketplaces with common prices or if it is a fragmented bucket-shop "not held" type market. Anyone with enlightenment?

    Are prop firms really bucketshops?

Correct, if they are passing your orders directly to the exchange, they are not a bucket shop. If your orders are being routed to a Knight Trading or other execution firm taking the other side - ie you don't see your orders right away directly in Level 2 - run for the hills.
