I completely agree that (if possible) you should use XP. That holds true for any thick client trading platform...Call Ninja, or SR...TradeStation. They will all tell you the same. That the preferred OS is XP, but their platforms will work on Vista. Interestingly, MS looks to be scraping...

Yes...you could request X_study at no charge (thru Alaron, im not sure about other firms)...Also, you should (thru Alaron) be able to direct connect to 7 exchanges, not just 1

I have found ZenFire to be ok, much better than PATS...but not as stable as TT in FAST market situations.

On the X_trader side, I also believe they will be offering it (w/ the charting) for $250 or $300/month with 79 cent commissions, then laddered down after 2000 sides.

there are at least 20 firms in chicago that do exactly that...pay u a small salary/draw & charge minimal commissions...in return for a percentage of profits & roughly 20-30cents a side on trades

The only advantage to being W'd by your firm is that you can receive health benefits, which is nice for a rookie trader, that along w/ paying member rates for CME products. If you are not on your compnay's payroll as a prop trader you are not eligible for member rates, unless you have a CME...
