That book was a great read !!!! It's not 100% accurate but it sure does open the eyes of the Avg trader who needs to understand what happens when they send an order Into the mkt
Just negotiate a monthly volume minimum of around 300k shares a month with no software fees just market data. If you trade under 300k agree to pay the 225 but if you trade over 300k shares you don't pay for software.
The $225 and $80 are made up fees ....they own the software and no one charges their traders for prop reports. 100k to 200k shares a month is pretty low so the firm does need to make some money somewhere. What is your payout ?
The main components of prop vs retail depend on what your trying to accomplish.
Are you in need of more buying power
Does your model have room to scale ? If so a prop firm can help you grow the model with additional bp plus most shops will back a good portion of your risk.

You guys are all missing the point.... this merger was all about routing and monthly fees !!!! These shops have all shown their hand to the street that they have a tough time turning a profit from their trading desks. The main source of revenue now is off the traders orders being directed to...
I always say to go and meet the partners in person at the main office . I always have the traders meet with me at Chimera to make sure its a fit for both of us
