Botched 1099-B cost-basis reporting: The List

Interactive Brokers: Not extinguishing a wash sale after 30+days have passed, in many if not all cases. Best/cleanest examples are 1 day in-out trades that may have produced an initial loss, but at end of day, there's a gain, and then NO trades for 30+ days. So in any case, there should be...

IB 1099-B appears to have many errors

Same problem here. There should be no wash sale "disallowed" for that trade. They are ignoring that 30days have passed without trading it--which would 'extinguish' that wash sale, so it would not be disallowed. I'm working with them on this as well. Hundreds or thousands of errors on my...

    IB's "IBIS"

Excellent, this has been needed for a very very long time. Take a long vacation....no quotes the next month....low quotes=low # of trades, and the cycle repeats. Many of us had to arrange alternate quote services or back up brokers due to this.

IB gain/loss statement including wash-sale calcs

The way I'm seeing this shake out, is that you'll have to declare whatever the broker reported on the 1099, then add footnotes adjusting that for the proper MTM or cross wash sale (across all brokers, all accounts). Really the only way to do this is to aggregate all your trades, across all...

portfoio margin for an IRA account with IB

It's not a true margin account, this is just a way within the IRS regs to get around T+3 issues.

IB Wash Sale Help - Tax Data Date

Seems IB is ramping up for the new reporting requirements, as manadated by the IRS, for cost basis. Problem here, is I don't see MTM as an option for customer reporting. I also see serious flaws in the Sched D IB prepares, which appears wash sale adjusted. This is really a bad idea by the...

Can a broker change your limit price?

Your order is being re-priced by the exchange for NMS compliance for any order that would lock the market. This includes orders that would not route out, given a particular routing strategy--such as frequently seen with IB SMART "route for highest rebate". Your example sounds like INET TFTY...

    windows RDP issue

I've seen the exact same behavior as propseeker describes. It should be independent, but it's not. Applications of all types are "throttled" when you have a poor RDP connection, guessing it's a synch issue of whats occurring on the colo vs. what RDP can keep up with in displaying...

    Automated Trading Answers

-Not really true, it's just a flamefest here at ET now, but good to see some real traders with real questions lurking. That said, I've worked with Christian & Centauris on my projects for almost 3 years, as I continually evolve. They are quite proficient in virtually every area of trade...

Looking for a Trading Partner or Prop Firm for trading capital, offering 5% daily

IB's Demo is nowhere near in the ballpark of realistic --it's simply meant to show features & give enough movement to test an API. IB's papertrader (for those of you with live accounts, this option is given for testing new strats.) is far more realistic, although it does have it's flaws as...

    Good ways to buy gold?

I hate to post....but yes, as a buyer of bullion on ebay, you can get ripped off easily...while as a seller, you can control who you sell to, to some degree, and set the terms. I bought from a fellow who had hundreds+ of transactions and a 98-99% positive feedback rating. This was late...

Even the porn industry wants a bailout...

They are certainly deserving, if any industry has taken it on the chin more than they......it's been hard on them all. There's no place more in need of having sagging assets being propped up, can't have those big ones fail. Bernanke needs to open up the spigot for them, so we can get this...

    "Absolute Return CD" wtf

There are an immense number of special investment product classes, many are likely inhouse mark-ups of the public versions. In the end, these are usually structured so that the house will always win. These have been around for 5-7years, but have never gained much traction. Google for Accel...
