Buying a new Trading PC.... this is whats in my shopping cart and cyberpowerpc

You don't play computer games, so why would you need a gaming computer? Why look for something fairly fast? Your needs are basic. Typical trading processes are a piece of cake for current lower tier hardware. Here, $500 would easily do it, and it would be cheaper in the US.

Trading from a laptop + multi monitors

It's standard. A laptop that can support an external monitor already supports two displays (monitor + laptop screen). A second external output will just replace the laptop screen.

What is the best phone for trading?

I use these two as well. Oanda is far better as a mobile platform. It's as simple as possible, which is perfect for a phone. I bet I can log on, place a trade, and log off on Oanda before I am able to enter my security codes into TWS. A phone is the ideal setup for someone who doesn't need...

i7-900s vs Xeon processors - identical?

4-6 monitors doesn't necessitate a powerful processor. If you needed something powerful, you likely wouldn't need to ask here. The guys here pushing i7s+ may very well be wasting your money.

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

Yes, but I'm referring to the iPad, new Android tablets, and the Windows 7 tablets. My tablet runs windows 7, and therefore will run anything anyone runs on their desktop. Intensive processes may be slow, but TWS and charting software, for example, run very well. I agree. I've found I...

Any limitations when using a touchscreen tablet ?

It's fine if you use the larger text & icon display option, or a stylus, or both.

    50k account profits POLL

Why settle for less? You may think those that talk about percentages have no idea, but at least it shows a little ambition. Nothing great has been achieved by the attitude you have shown here. You may be willing to settle for mid 6 figs, but why criticise those who won't? It's also misleading...

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

iPad, maybe, but there are a bunch of windows/android tablets coming out, or out already. There's also significant difference between the mobility and comfort of laptops and tablets. Tablets will significantly improve in performance and handle the needs for most users, and I expect over time...

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

I've seen a lot of talk about the programs running slower though (using j2me runner). I've looked into remote desktops, and it looks like the most convenient option. Seems like it would be quicker to "get up and running" between breaks, as well as support proper software. I was concerned...

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

I find the tablet is fine, and the resolution isn't that much greater than some of what the smartphones offer (e.g. the droid x). My trading doesn't require speed, so I don't think making a mistake would be an issue for me. Have you run mobile TWS on Android? I know there are some java...

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

It's comfortable to use commuting and walking around. I wouldn't trade while I was walking (it's a bit clumsy), but looking at data is fine. Data useage is going to vary greatly between traders. My guess is that on a mobile platform, most will have 1 data source and watch a limited number of...

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

That would be the fault of the trader, not the equipment. Anyone running an IB account on an android phone? Does webtrader work? Experiences between mobile tws and webtrader? I've seen the remote option mentioned on another thread. At some point a 12+ inch tablet will be able to fold up...

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

I agree. It's far more mobile than netbooks and laptops (it can comfortably be used sitting, standing, walking etc), but lugging it around when it is not being used is annoying. The reasons I went for a tablet rather than a smart phone don't seem to be significant any more, and once I decide...

Will PC trading software migrate to ipad?

Mobility. It's great being able to trade when out and about. Obviously it's very limited if you watch a lot of markets or trade fast timeframes, but a slower intraday trader who focuses on fewer markets should manage fine with the one screen. I was amazed at how little I missed multi monitors...

Best smartphone for Interactive Brokers customers

I wouldn't mind hearing more about this topic. I recently bought myself a tablet (like an Ipad, but more powerful and runs windows 7), but I'm finding it a bit inconvenient to lug around - I wouldn't mind something pocket-sized. I would hope to use it as a trading alternative (at least when...
