    Options Xpress Streaming News

correct. usually the quotes are right. but, if you think about it, that's worse than their usually being wrong, because if you think they're ALWAYS RIGHT, you depend on them. If you depend on them and they're wrong 1 out of 100 times, you are likely to make an awful trade. If you're...

    Options Xpress Streaming News

I have found OX's streaming tools to be fragile in general. If you open more than three or four streaming windows -- as you might do to see regional quotes on several strikes -- the whole thing breaks down. In fact, OX's quotes often go stale (quote is from 10 minutes ago) w/ just one window...

    OptionsXpress vs. thinkorswim

I can't believe there are people on this board that have had good experience w/ OX quotes. On an options chain, you can't even OPEN to see regionals on more than 5 windows. It just shuts down and they themselves will tell you that.

anyone use TStation to set-up some auto-trade rules w/ OPTIONS? Is it reliable?

    Choicetrade for options?

I actually haven't tried them. I can comment that you should be able to get a superior platform for $1 or less a contract -- Tradestation and others. I can also say that the most expensive broker I've used was shockingly bad -- you do NOT get what you pay for. This was OptionsXpress, where I...

    OptionsXpress vs. thinkorswim

someone wrote that OX doesn't charge for assignments / exercises. That is FALSE. They charge $15 for each one. Someone else wrote that Thinkorswim.com is more $ than OX. FALSE. You actually choose your commish schedule at Thinkorswim.com, which is remarkable in itself. They have several...

Higher ROE from selling calls than selling puts?

reply to "for put, premium + 10% * strike, but for call it's premium + 10% * underlying" I have never heard of that from any broker. All I've seen are x underlying for both. Are you sure?

Is IB the best broker to trade options?

I agree with the Think or Swim vote. However, I would not choose OX 2d. Highly unreliable, slow software. I've waited 5 minutes for a cancel from the ISE. The ISE has been instantaneous w/ every other broker I've used, and there are many. Yes to ToS No to OX

    is ATM the best ?

oops, typo on prior email: Should read: you would get more Delta and Gamma per $$$$$ buying the 5% out. Of course, you would also have more decay and vol at risk. not "you would get more Delta and Gamma per sh buying the 5% out. Of course, you would also have more decay and vol at risk."

    is ATM the best ?

don't want to be odd man out, but the question is Delta and gamma per $, not Delta and gamma per sh. So, if the ATM costs $2 and is Delta 50 and Gamma 10 and the 5% out costs $1 is 40 and 6, you would get more Delta and Gamma per sh buying the 5% out. Of course, you would also have more decay...

    yes, it's buggy as hell.

    OptionsXpress vs. thinkorswim

I have read these comments and found the recurring theme that OX is WAY too expensive. I agree completely. Many, many of their competitors are at $1 a contract with no minimum ticket, including Tradestation and IB. And now, ChoiceTrade dropped to 75 cents. But, what is even worse is...

IB Routing For Spread Orders Across Markets

I don't know who the best is, but I can tell you that OXpress is flat-out awful. To leg a spread, you need serious speed. OXpress browser-based interface is slow and the ability to get out fast (cancel) is even slower. If it's going against you, you can get wiped out.
