I hate that line of reasoning. Nobody should accept that "shit happens so I'll take my losses and move on because I signed an agreement". This is 2008 (almost) and online trading has been around for a long time. So with each passing year, things should get more and more reliable and f*ck-ups...

Good thing this didn't happen around 10 am. Lots of people would have had big open positions then. As it stands, I (luckily!) have a very small open position. What happens if you suffers a big loss now? Do you just have to take it on the chin and move on?

Some really useful insights in this thread esp. from cabletrader and Lon Eagle. I've just started trading Fx and realize there is so much more to learn. I was never aware of the 'bucketshop' nature of the Fx brokers. Is IB doing something similar to this?

Great to hear these stories. There are so many things my generation (I was born in the 80s) takes for granted. Things are so easy now, almost too easy...to lose money that is ;)
