Most important index in Asia ?

The Nikkei225 is the most significant because it has the 2nd largest index futures market behind it. The volume is mainly the big boys such as Goldman and Saxo, not to mention the occasional few 1000 lots from CIS.

    Trading Book by CIS

The Japanese book reviews are not the best. This is far better; summarized but detailed year by year analyses of his trading methods, thoughts and development including his email quotes:- http://cistrade6954.g1.xrea.com/ You will need to get a Japanese chick/bloke to translate..

    Global Macro Trading Journal

How about Japan? Almost 30 years of the "deep risk" phase with the Nikkei225 peaking back in 1989 to around 39000 and plunging to 6990 in 2008 and still only recently back to 24400. It has taken QE by the BOJ, including massive stock and JGB purchases to prop it up and yet it has only recovered...

Osaka Nikkei futures are most liquid. Why trade Nikkei futures from CME and SGX?

I think the activity depends a lot on the time of day. For example, 8:45 to 9:00am Tokyo time is when those big private Singapore traders churn the market for a few ticks. T+1 after the cash closes those big boys from GS, NewEdge etc dominate and dictate the overnight market direction. Amazing...

Osaka Nikkei futures are most liquid. Why trade Nikkei futures from CME and SGX?

The OSE Nikkei futures contract is 1000 yen per point with a price quantum of 10 points. The SGX and CME Yen Nikkei futures contracts are 500 yen per point and the price quantum is 500 yen. The mini contract is 100 yen per point but also moves in 5 point quantums. CME has a USD denominated...

Does anyone know the name of that japanese trader that turned $800 into something like $180 million?

BNF is a legendary trader in Japan. He was way successful before the famous J-Com fat finger incident and has built his account 10 fold thereafter. He doesn't disclose the details of his trading methods other than the necessity to discern a trending versus a ranging market. Whats impressive is...

What was the ***last*** thing you had to master before becoming profitable?

Forgot to add that I never control emotions. The controlled "master trader" oblivious to heavy losses is a lot of BS. When I take a heavy loss I decimate calculators and monitors. I have worked in a number of trading arcades and I have seen some of the best of them curse and swear to no end...

What was the ***last*** thing you had to master before becoming profitable?

Started doing things opposite to text book theory. Average down; take profits quick; over position size when I thought "this is it"; only buy when prices are cheap; only short when prices are high; don't use stops.

    tokyo traders

It seems that there is a predominance of Japanese institutional traders compared to independent traders , especially in the futures and options markets (correct me if I'm wrong). I was wondering if you came across many independent Japanese traders who were good enough to make a living in what...

Wow , Japanese stocks in the 80's!. No internet and Japanese brokers were charging something like 3% of the trade amount. You must have held positions for quite a while to be profitable. Day trading was unheard of those days.
