Platform sim trading past data? (Equities)

I know MT4 allowed you to trade forex essentially “ going back in time “ so to speak, to practice sim trading.. anyone know of an equity platform that allows this? Most of my searching results just pull up back testing. Also I use range bars FWIW so the platform needs these.. thanks!

Very disappointed with Sterling Trader Pro's delays, looking for alternatives

I am thinking about joining a prop firm that uses Sterling pro, but am curious if they allow Market on open limit orders to NYSE and NASDAQ. I know they did along time ago, but wasnt sure now.

    Zero-sum game.

I always cringe when I hear someone bring up the zero sum game nonsense. It’s a fallacy and not complicated in the usual context it’s brought up. Someone will inevitably trot out “ every transaction there is a winner and a loser, etc”. Both can be winners or losers depending on their other...

    The ACD Method

Thanks. I was figuring this was the way to go. I know Fisher mentioned using the open of each main currencies time of trading ( ie JPY) but I figured the London was the best of all and was just looking for feedback on the practical level.

    The ACD Method

Followed this thread a ways back and recently returned to trading and haven’t caught up on a the rest of the thread. As far as forex goes, has their been any consensus on which opening (OR) and closing times should be used? I am guessing London since it’s most active? I am closing time in...

    Prop trading Firms

They do trade equities, but not much is spoken about in the forex meetings regarding other divisions so I cant attest to their other strategies. I do know the theme that was presented is many traders trade FX for directional moves in times when volatility is good, and take advantage of lower...

    Prop trading Firms

This was the biggest hangup for me, as there was no refund. They do allow you to access it for a trial before you sign up. It really depends on how confident you are in FX and trading in general. I knew nothing about FX and the nuances, so I am glad I did it. Some of it was review (charting)...

Is experience at a prop firm required to be a successful retail trader?

First, read post #67 from pistol pete.. My .02 is :study technical analysis and realize it takes thousands of hours of screen time to internalize what you are seeing. All the canned indicators out there can be useful to introduce concepts, but shouldnt play any part of any system. Besides the...

Is experience at a prop firm required to be a successful retail trader?

mentoring and learning can be done remotely especially in this day in age (screen sharing, etc.) Dont be so quick to toss it out. Although I do agree that in person is the best, it can still be achieved remotely if the system of teaching is solid.

    Prop trading Firms

Check out Mavericktrading.com They have traders all over the world I have been told (so I am assumming they aren't all US citizens...). I am currently in their program in the FX division. They also focus on options, and I believe to a lesser extent equities (in the other divisions.) Nothing...

Opening Range Breakout, for Futures and Equities

I think the ORB based on some designated time interval isn't that helpful.... If you look at some sort of bands that are based off of ADR that change and are flexible it paints a clearer picture... My point is that you can jump around from 5 minute, 15 minute, 30 minute and not get too far...

    Prop Firm near Austin Texas?

I would also suggest looking into bigmiketrading.com Basic membership is free, you can pay for the "elite" section with a 1 time life time fee, but even the free section offers alot. (Alot of NT users there) I know they get pegged as a go to place for free indicators (and they do have...

    Prop Firm near Austin Texas?

I know, fair point. But I guess my point was is that he needs to learn how to trade first and foremost. The instrument is secondary.. Telling a new guy that there are a bunch of people people pulling in seven figures is a bit misleading, and kind of is along the same mentality of "trade...

    Prop Firm near Austin Texas?

If someone knows how to trade the instrument doesnt matter Mav. You of all people should know this. A profitable equity trader isnt flipping stocks for a nickel, and simply switching to energy isnt some panacea. Besides. No one "moves" somewhere(tax situations otherwise of course) to trade...
