Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

I hear you, TOC. My comment wasn't directed at you. I'm not naive. But when someone offers their opinion on a computer/technical type question, I don't think they should be attacked or ridiculed. Everyone has their own opinion, and disagreement is fine, but ridicule is childish. The...

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

From the feedback in this thread, and from talking to a few of my floor connections, I'm not anymore. I'm going to start a fund instead. I'll trade them myself for the the rest of the year and start lining up the right people to ally myself with, and hopefully by '06, I'm up and running...

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

I'll trade the s.o.b.'s if I can't sell them. There's nothing "thin" about it. But given the option, I would prefer to sell them and take the risk and some money off the table. That's why I started the thread - to find out if selling them is a feasible option. And if a hedge fund were to...

Sounds good Samson77, I'll send it right over! :D

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

I would rather trade it myself if I'm going to assume the risk. After working on the floor for eight years and seeing what I saw, I have a problem with trusting others in this industry to be as competent as I would like them to be. The brokerage idea isn't a bad one. But again, continually...

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

Sounds good, Walther - that's what I've been doing - building a track record. I'll continue to do so and in a year or two's time, I should have sufficient data to sell. I was just curious as to the nuts and bolts of such a transaction. Thanks.

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

These are all very valid concerns and great suggestions, but the bottom line is that unless you know someone very well who is a higher up at the hedge fund, how can you trust anyone. I'm not a computer guy and my systems are not complicated. They just work. So I don't think I can trust anyone...

Thanks for all the information. I've got some decisions to make. Good luck to everybody.

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

Thanks, Runningbear. Good idea. Quah, I didn't spend millions. I spent time and energy, which is what they pay their "wizards" for when they hire their development team. Right?

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

Toc, with all the skeptism/bitterness/arrogance apparent in the forums i've glanced through, I'd rather not get into the numbers too much, but the 11 systems in aggregate have a 69% winning trade ratio, with individual systems having anywhere from 64% to 82% winners. Quah, I believe that...

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

Thanks, Syswizard - I figured there was some sort of IP lawyer involved. It just seems that it would be incredibly difficult to: a) find out it someone actually ripped me off and started trading my systems after turning me down, and b) enforce this IP even if I had an inkling that...

Selling systems I developed to hedge fund

I am a former floor trader and have spent the last year developing and trading bond systems. I have developed 12 systems, 11 on the bonds. I have been trading these 11 systems for seven months and have not had a losing month. Backtesting on the systems indicates that 98% of months should be...
