Why does no one here give detailed trading advice?

You want a specific method? Subscribe to the S&P oscillator. When it hits -5, buy. When it hits +5, sell.

Why does no one here give detailed trading advice?

I'd like to reply to the "zero sum game" idea. It certainly applies, or seems to apply, to securities trading in the short term -- the shorter the term, the more it seems to apply. However, I think in the deeper analysis, it does not. Capital is an asset in the market for goods and...

Running Four Monitors with SLI Video Cards

There's not much advantage to going SLI, but there is a lot of advantage to having two PCIe x16 slots if you're running multiple monitors. It depends on how much information you ask your cards to render. With PCI, I had to shut down a lot of graphics items at 9.25 a.m. to get real-time feeds...

    3+ Monitor set up

Yes. You are going to be limited as to speed by the PCI bus. There is one bus that all the PCI slots share, like a housing development with one two-lane road into it. You might have problems with data rate during high volume periods, such as 9:30 a.m.

    state income tax

Juneau actually doesn't get any colder in the winter than Chicago or Boston. And in Alaska, you get REVERSE taxes, i.e. the state pays you something like $1600 per year from oil revenues. The real downsides to living there are 1) high prices and 2) lack of transportation to other states (it...

I'd like to try out a good, friendly, general stock daytrading chatroom. Does anyone have a good one to recommend?

Tax Implication - Loss of a portion of Capital contribution

Generally short term capital losses are limited to $3000 per year. (If you have long term capital gains, you can use short term losses to offset them. In fact, I think you are required to do so.) You can carry the additional $2000 loss forward and deduct it in future years, if you don't...

Westcoasters, What do you think of NYSE moving trading up 1 hour

With the NYSE exchange becoming a for-profit enterprise, rather than a good-old-boys club, I would predict a lot more response to the pressure to close later. Hopefully it will get more responsive to its real "customers", and less responsive to a New York establishment that uses it as an...

    Bollinger BS

IMHO, Bollinger Bands are worthless in predicting the future movement of stock prices, except perhaps if you are trying to play retracements. "Sticking to the band" gets it backwards. It would be more accurate to say that "the band sticks to the prices". Bollinger Bands have one useful...

    Mathematics skills for discretionary trading.

I hate to say it, but simply being able to do simple calculations in an instant is the #1 math skill for a discretionary trader. I know profitable career traders who get hysterical when Google goes from 180 to 200, but only moderately interested when Stock X goes from 3.50 to 4.00.

Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

You sound like you don't know what "trading with the trend" means, if you are looking for a turning point.
