Federal Reserve scraps transfer limits on bank savings accounts

Which banks / credit unions are following through and allowing >6 withdrawals without fees ? Seems to me if they do that, you should move every dollar of your checking account to savings, and then setup overdraft protection. What I am missing ? Other than the fact the interest of savings is very...

Where did the bear market go?

FWIW, I went and looked at dozu888's posting history, and was convinced that I never needed to read another post from him, so he is now on my ignore list.

Where did the bear market go?

Try NaN P/E when E goes to 0. Or more likely, negative P/E.

Where did the bear market go?

I work in tech and I don't want my portfolio too correlated with my job. Also I don't have the appetite for 100% equity portfolio - never have, never will.

Where did the bear market go?

My $1.5M portfolio that was about 70/30 and turned into $1.25M. I haven't sold any of the stock positions. But I do believe the rally in the last week is a dead cat bounce. I sold about $110k of bonds in my Roth IRA and tipped my toes at some bearish bets last Thursday. I'm waiting for experts...

DIS - Announce theme parks reopen - Light at the end of the tunnel

Yes. I think that's what flattening the curve entails. You need 50% to 70% to have antibodies for herd immunity. But you can't have 150M to 200M cases of Covid-19 in the US all in just 7 weeks, or you overload the hospitals and cause mass deaths. So you quarantine to have those infections spread...

DIS - Announce theme parks reopen - Light at the end of the tunnel

Safer bet that they can reopen by labor day, Sep 7. Not memorial day on may 25, which is just 7 weeks away.

    I'm doing that at E-trade.

    Trading an IRA account

Note that the bear ETFs are meant for intra-day trading. Not for holding. They reset each day. If you hold for longer than a day, with the wrong sequence of ups and downs, you can lose money even you correctly predicted the downtrend.

    Trading an IRA account

You can sell cash-secured puts in an IRA. Been selling a few of them OOM near the close time and grabbing a few pennies.

What is the optimum tax rate on the wealthy?

IMO, the poll question is somewhat ambiguous. Is the question about the average tax rate for those high earners ? Or the marginal tax rate above $1M ? This makes a big difference. I would say that about 35 to 40% average tax rate would sound about right for $1M. At $1M I would think about...

    Dividend capture with covered calls

bjw, No, I don't think the whole series of option prices is wrong. True. I wouldn't have another hedge, as in this case it would be guaranteed to wipe profit. This weekend I was looking at a couple of other issues which might be more interesting for this type of play. JNK has a...

    Dividend capture with covered calls

OK. Yes, the put may have greater profit, but does not have the same likelihood of being called early. As it turns out, holding to expiration is better (see corrected calculation above) as you would collect both the dividend and time value.

    Dividend capture with covered calls

Rehoboth, Edit : It seems to me that the time value could have gone up for other reasons than the underlying price going down. Volatility could just go up, too ;) Possibly enough to counter the fact that 70% of the time to expiration elapsed. In which case time value may go up, and I would...

    Dividend capture with covered calls

Actually, I miscalculated this case. At expiration, if SPY is above $106, I get called at $106 and thus collect the 0.60 of time value. Thus the net profit would be 0.625+0.60 = $1.225 / $105.4 = 1.16% over 42 days or 10.1% annualized.
