    Never Traded Futures: Advice?

As I mentioned, I have watched the July contract a lot as that's what DTO trades on, and I've watched the front two months mainly for trading with DXO. I've studied the historical charts for various months as well, especially over the last year or two. So I've traded ETNs that track the...

    Never Traded Futures: Advice?

Well I appreciate your honesty. For whatever reason, I have not done well with trading anything other than oil. I've been looking mainly at macd, stochastics, rsi, and fib levels on live 1-minute charts, and have (knock wood) done consistently well with oil. I've made my mistakes as well, but...

    Never Traded Futures: Advice?

That's interesting. The reason I started thinking about trading oil futures per se is we were talking about oil ETFs on the ETF forum and someone said that trading the actual futures contracts was so much better because they were so liquid and he almost never had any slippage with them...

    Never Traded Futures: Advice?

I'm more of a day-trader at this point. I enjoy watching the price of oil all day long and scalping it both ways :)

    Never Traded Futures: Advice?

I have an IB account and I watch the crude oil futures a lot as I like to trade the DXO/DTO ETNs. All of this makes me think about just trading the futures. But I've never traded futures. Any advice, suggestions, resources, etc. would be very much welcome. Thank you.

Exchange Traded Notes & Credit Risk

This possibility of DB going under, however remote or real, is why I like daytrading with DXO and DTO and not holding them overnight. A nice thing about DXO is that with the shares up to such a high level (currently $233), it costs me $1 at most with IB to buy 100 shares of it. Nice for...

Best Short-Term ETF for trading crude oil spot price?

You could very well be right. I doubt it goes that high unless the market recovers, though. If the broader market is doing well (let's say, Dow at 8K+), then I think oil is probably headed up for the short term. If it does that, though, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the spot price back...

Best Short-Term ETF for trading crude oil spot price?

I may have hit the $43 or $42 target right on the head with the bottom on the July contract. Of course, I didn't take my own advice, though, and didn't get into DXO at that time (love it when that happens)... (July oil futures went down to the low $42s yesterday).

    Oil/Energy ETF's

Like I said, DTO uses the April futures contract which expires on March 20th, and DXO uses the July contract which expires on June 22nd. Link with the ev. Your link says the same thing, btw.

    Oil/Energy ETF's

With DXO you have to look not at the current contract, but the forward month. So for now, DXO moves according to the April contract (which expires March 20th). On the 2nd-6th of every month, DXO is moved by 20% per day to the following month's contract. So by March 7th, for example, it will...

    Oil/Energy ETF's

I'm not terribly knowledgeable, but from what I know, yes USO would gain value very well if oil spiked up and went in the opposite direction, but it would have to be a really nice move, I think, and that's unlikely unless something drastic happens. Who knows, maybe an OPEC country will create...

    Top Performing ETFs

DTO is a double short on oil, and oil has plummeted from its highs last summer to the present. Yes, that would've been real nice to buy where it started at $25. And no, don't expect it to go much higher in this trend, if it goes any higher at all. It may go a little higher, but probably not by a...

    Oil/Energy ETF's

First thing: I wouldn't be overconfident about oil going up over the short term. There have been $30 and $25 projections. There's a ton of supply, demand is still down, and the OPEC cuts aren't going to fix that any time real soon. And if the overall stock market stays down, then that won't help...

    DXO/DTO Traders out there?

I'll stand by the rest of what I said above, but this last part is not necessarily correct. I compared previous DTO prices during that first week, and the price itself may or may not go down even though that is the time when it begins tracking a new contract.
