Any feedback on APEX TRADER FUNDING?

Randomly came across this thread while looking for something else. As someone who has traded on a real prop desk for over 6 years, I have to wonder how many here actually have prop experience? It's true, these firms are nothing like a real prop. But at the same time, the prop trading world I've...

    Compliance/Selling Away Question

Once again, not seeking dual registration. I realize the difference between the types of BD's, I just doubt being independent would really help me in this case. If anything it would probably hurt my chances, since we handle our investments in house and have a more active management approach...

    Compliance/Selling Away Question

By going with a firm like Avatar I would avoid the dual registration problem. I don't really have the assets required to trade freely with a retail margin account(never let a woman find out how much you make)

    Compliance/Selling Away Question

He is independent, but I'm not sure how much that will help. At least he knows the head compliance guy pretty well, but still... Since this is my dad's business I don't consider it an option to just do it and ask forgiveness when they find out. I would never put his practice at risk, or...

    Compliance/Selling Away Question

Can I be registered with a broker/dealer/RIA and still trade with an outfit like Avatar? A little background: After leaving my last prop firm, my Dad managed to talk me in to helping him out with his investment management practice instead of joining another prop firm(he's been in it for...

    Series 7 changes from 2007-11

Cool, thanks for the help. That was kinda what I was thinking but I was wary of assuming so without some supporting opinions. I'm going to keep practice testing on the CD to reassure myself of my memory but I'm glad that should be sufficient. Confidence is the only way to go in to a test IMO.

    Series 7 changes from 2007-11

That was the waiver I mentioned. They tried, even included a letter from me and a recommendation letter, but FINRA denied it. I believe they have tightened up. When my previous firm proposed their changes I spoke with FINRA about it and they said I would have no problem even if I waited a few...

    Series 7 changes from 2007-11

I have done an extensive internet search and found nothing to go on, so I thought I'd throw up the question here. I earned my series 7 license in 2007 but it lapsed in '09(my prop firm changed structure while I was there and no longer offered CE, so I was SOL). Now I'm joining a new firm and...

Things to know before joing a Prop Trading Firm?

Bahahaha:D At my last prop we used to joke about that after things really slowed down after Q1 2009. Some of the rookies wanted to bring cots in. The answer to your question kinda depends on a few things. Mainly... Will you be trading remotely or in the office? Do you plan to invest...

Should I take the leap and quit my job to trade full-time?

edit- self-employment tax applies only if you choose to create a legal entity for your trading, like a corp or LLC

Should I take the leap and quit my job to trade full-time?

I just read this whole thread, and there are a lot of good replies. I'm not sure exactly what step I lie at on fjpenny's list. As someone said, I suspect it will be easier to tell when I see it all in hindsight. At one point I thought myself to being just short of #37. Now I know I was...
