It depends what you do. What are you going to do? And why is it an either/or choice?
I trade futures on a ninjatrader dom and the mouse is fantastic. But for other types of plays hotkeys might be preferable.

It almost always seems to be ISP issues.
The problem is that some ISP's drop packets to control flow and this can cause problems. Others increase latency (delay) for a similar effect. Some just overload and have variable problems.

Re hotkeys. Have you tried changing them to something that "cant" happen like left clicking on a field that you never have showing on TWS?
So, there is a requirement for PC, Mac and Unix variants.
These could be solved (as others do) by compiling platform specific (fast, efficient, clean) versions of TWS or by having a Windows specific for the majority of users a java version for everyone else.
Simple Rule for Upgrades
Don't install the newest version until other people have been using it for 2 weeks without serious complaint.
I follow this rule for all software and have never had a problem with TWS or my frontend software.
(The exception to this requirement is SierraChart...

A very well reasoned post. And I would agree with the underlying view that in many cases a quick fix will not be a fix.
Would you entertain the view that in some/many/afew cases all that is required is a quick fix to get past a block and allow a natural evolution to good...
