All that money spent is what's allowing people to have jobs right now, otherwise 9% unemployment would look like a joke. It would be more like 30%. The standard of living is being propped up, it would otherwise be considerably worse.

Capitalism sounds good in theory. Unfortunately there's too many wealthy and powerful willing to sell their soul, and sell out their country to make or save a buck. This is why Capitalism in it's current state is a disaster.
