Margin and forex in IB and UK tax treatment

GBP is my base currency. I mostly trade in USD, and rarely in EUR or GBP, and very rarely in HKD.

Margin and forex in IB and UK tax treatment

I am not a regular trader. If I throw them my koinly or cointracker report of 800 crypto transactions and my IB report of 250 transactions, would it work out within 200-300 quid and do they provide any guarantees on accuracy (assuming of course I have given them the right report)?

Margin and forex in IB and UK tax treatment

Where can I find these in IB? I only see direct FX transactions in my IB trading confirmations, so I've been creating these transactions in my calculations myself. Should I use flex queries to get these?

Margin and forex in IB and UK tax treatment

For regular stock positions in cash accounts HMRC insist that selling and buying prices are calculated in GBP first before calculating profit. My understanding for stock positions in margin accounts (for eg, a USD denominated stock) is that the USD profit is taken first and then converted to...

IBRK - collecting and processing tick-by-tick data

Okay, 400000(trades)/(6.5(hrs)*3600(seconds/hr)) ~ 17 trades/sec , which is roughly in line with the 10-15 figure we calculated above. That is around 58 milliseconds per trade, not fast by machine standards, but reckon there would be other stocks that dwarf this speed. Yes, and I guess when SPY...

IBRK - collecting and processing tick-by-tick data

I haven't used the IB library myself, and am not sure what you mean by 'server' in this context, but as far as I understand the buffer size is meaningful (at least theoretically in this context) to manage the situation where data can come in bursts and pauses, and the buffer size should be large...

UK taxation for futures and options trading

Ah, as I was looking into the report, it looks like this maybe a problem with the proceeds/costs calculations for the options support in the fork. I think I understand what costs/proceeds are now. Oh, and I did have an accidental short, as well as GBP.USD shorts implicitly from holding USD cash...

UK taxation for futures and options trading

Thanks @globalarbtrader . I needed this as I exceeded the threshold last year, but not anything large enough to justify paying an accountant. Apparently someone forked and updated this for options, python3, CSV FX (I had to hack it a bit to get it to work though) etc, here at (...
