Adobian, They are not mutually exclusive. Do both. Buy the high flyers and trade with the remaining capital.

Does anyone know a prop firm in Stamford, CT?

Schonfeld has an office in Norwalk. I think there are a few others.

    call me ignorant...

LEVERAGE on your money. Most will give you at least 10x your money versus 4x intraday in the US customer.

Etfs or closed end funds that short?

Are you saying you want ETF's and CEF's that you can get long that make you short that particular sector or market?

Are great traders made or born?

I was born with a natural talent that worked my ass off to maximize. Sort of like Michael Jordon. Seriously.

    Zone Trading/ Kershner Trading?

Andy Kershner is (was?) a great trader. Traded size profitably and consistently. He is rigid in heis training and risk tolerances. If your personality and style jibe with his, you will be in a great place. If not, you will be miserable. Andy himself is a very honorable guy.

    How easily distracted are you?

I listen to the music. Jam band stuff. Grateful Dead, Trey Anastasio, North Mississippi Alls Stars, Robert Randolph, Government Mule, etc If my wife or either of my kids comes into my office while I am trading, I will go postal. I need, demand and deserve complete privacy; no distractions...

What is your single biggest fear in life?

I DO have a fear of going blind. It really bothers me to even think about it. Everytime I walk past a blind begger or a blind musician, I donate big in the hopes that it can buy me an insurance against going blind. I could lose my other senses (I am partially deaf anyway) but not my sight...

Tools, products and tricks that make life better

I was up late one Saturday night after having had some of the usual beverage and got sucked into watching an infomercial on the magic bullet that blends things into guacamole and makes individual drinks. I bought it. Works great. Really does make my life easier. I think that Ron Popiel...

    Prop Shops in Boston?

Ever since Bright got fined in Mass back a few years ago, it was apparent that the Commonwealth of Mass was not going to play ball with Prop Shops. Hence, they are far and few between in Boston.

The Definitive book on Trader Psychology

Along Nitro's thought process, I have found non trading books, generally in the field of sports psychology to be very helpful. I think "The Inner game of Tennis" written a while back is very helpful. I have also found biographies about people who have displayed unusual amounts of...

How can you ruin chit chat? It never had any value to begin with. It is just a place to rank and rave.

    Good Commish

Longhorn, Speculator is not wrong. Which would you rather have, 100% of profits on a $500,000 buying power or 33% on a $2,000,000? I for one am not so egotistical that I can't give up some of my profits for leverage. Under a gross deal, my interests would be the same as the firm's...
