Is there an ETF of a bread basket of Canadian stocks??

XIU.TO. but you'll find very little liquidity in the options. I've tried this strategy but it's impossible to get a decent fill with the low liquidity.

    Blue light sensitivity

Second the computer/gaming glasses. I had the exact same symptoms as you for years with all the same negative tests. I bought a pair of gunnar glasses and I've worn them for 3 years with a dramatic decrease in headaches. A friend of mine who's a software developer turned me on to these and they...

Need life and job advice - breaking in to financial services/ trading

Totally depends on how much you're willing to sacrifice? Would you relocate? I was a pipeline estimator and realized I didn't want to do that anymore. I ended up applying like crazy, anywhere I could find anything. Ended up relocating to take a junior nat gas trader job at a small marketer for...

Need somewhere to think out loud,

Turveyd, I'm totally wishing you the best buddy but arent you a coder? Seems to me if you're confident in your method but hesitant to execute wouldn't it be a no brainer to just automate your signals? I've been focussing on selling a covered call system for years now and wish I could automate....

Need somewhere to think out loud,

Turveyd! Glad to see you back! Happy to see your trading has improved and wishing you the best going on (no matter how many times you "tweak" your method lol)

Do you need a real edge trading the Bond market?

If you really want to get into the guts of the yield curve, salomon Brothers did a few papers on understanding the yield curve that you can download for free. Highly recommend. Just google salomon brothers and yield curve. You'll find them no problem... I believe they are all legal downloads.

Can US residents buy stock options on the Canadian (Montreal) exchange?

Not sure why if you are a us citizen, you would want option exposure in canada. The liquidity is terrible on canadian options. I know this because i write options on Canadian stocks. if you can, stick to us options. Montreal exchange is brutal compared to the liquidity you find elsewhere.

Option Strategies equal to Writing Put

Covered calls have the same risk/reward profile. You'd be better off just writing the put though if you can. I do know there are restrictions on shorting options in some registered accounts. For example, I can only write covered calls in my retirement account but I can't sell puts. Makes no...

    writing put and calls

Agree with Braddock and Jackrab. If you are asking this question there is no way in hell you should be writing naked options. Get a demo account, put on some trades, and watch what happens. Start to learn the Greeks, very important of you're writing imho. They may seem confusing at first but if...

    Why Was Marsman Stifled?

The guy was clearly soliciting money, and continues to do so on t2w looks like. Something is fishy... he's just selling mad amounts of strangles in a pile of names so he should do well in this environment. But he didn't understand a lot of basic option concepts.... which I found very strange...

    Covered Call Trading Tools

I tend to just work the probabilites... I write 1 SD out month after month (take advantage of theta) and see if your strikes are getting hit 20-30% of the time. I like covered calls for income because markets rarely melt up and the chance of a melt up (besides earnings or buyout) is pretty slim...
