I think HV is mainly used by stock traders as a substitute for IV. Not all data feeds support IV in their fundamental data, so many stock traders simply use HV values 2 free sites I know where IV can be found: http://www.ivolatility.com/ and http://www.schaeffersresearch.com/

I just purchased a Nvidia 6600GT ($167) from newegg also to run dual LCDs. It has Dual DVI ports so the picture is much cleaner than with a VGA connector.

Don't know of any free sites that do this. I user TradeStation 8 with RadarScreen to scan for gappers; not the entire NYSE, just the Dow, Naz 100, and SP 500. Works well.

Do you only need End Of Day data? or intraday data? For end of day, I would recommend TC2000 ($29.95). http://worden.com/ For intraday, I can recommend a few places to try, but not sure if they have exactly what you are looking for. Like I said, 3000 symbols is a lot for intraday.

You are not going to find that kind of data cheap. I know a few places that sell that, just google for them, but you are going to pay for 3000 symbols. Thats a lot of data.

The online version is free, but it can't do as much as the pay version. But you get what you pay for...
