I am not with Lime any more (not for any reason that matters, they are great), but if you are interested in using them and think you meet their minimum requirements I recommend calling them up and speaking with someone on the phone. They will answer any questions much better than I can.

All trades are routed directly to an exchange, this beats IB checking your order first with Timberhill. Also, IB does not allow a trader to route away from an exchange, where as Lime does.

That is negotiable. If they really want your business, they will beat whatever your current commissions are. I only trade equities, and they beat IB.

If you trade over 1,000,000 shares/month and are coded up with FIX connectivity, it would not hurt to inquire.

Long story short, I could not be happier with Lime Brokerage now that I have changed my account over. Lime is wayyyyyyyyy better than IB in terms of commissions, speed, and slippage.

I'm setting up a dedicated leased line first to see if this solves the problem, an IB JAVA API tech advised me as such. I was going to do this regardless, so we'll see if this solves the issue. I didn't try a demo account, and it was through the Gateway. I'll update the dedicated leased...

I believe this thread would be helpful to anyone trying to operate a low latency JAVA program tied to Interactive Brokers. At least as low a latency as possible with JAVA and not utilizing FIX protocol.

One downside would be the short seller who borrows your shares drags the price of the stock down. Then you would be getting a lower price when you sell potentially. Obvious volume is an important part of the equation relative to the stocks daily/weekly/monthly/etc. volume.
