I see Investor is the number one answer so far. If you do qualify for Trader Status, what reason's are there for keeping Investor status?

As my understanding, you can have trader status and not be MTM. However, you can only elect MTM if you've qualified and chosen Trader Status.

For those who would qualify for trader status, which do you choose between the options and why?

What about measuring the risk taken to achieve that % return? If I had two trading accounts and each used a different strategy, the higher return isn't necessarily better if there are larger issues such as consistency or max draw downs. Does anyone track measures to take this into account?

What are the most useful / best metrics to measure you trading success? Some I can think of include: -equity curve vs. benchmark -drawdowns -sharpe ratio -percentage of time profitable vs. benchmark (consistency) what have you guys found most useful?

Just wondering how many people out there have multiple accounts and what purpose does each have? For example, you may have one account for day trading, another for swing trading, and another for position trading. How do you separate your accounts and do you trade in multiple time frames?

I know there are a large range options and equally large range of prices associated with these products, which is why I'll ask the best options for different account sizes. Right now I do some day trading, but mostly swing trading - my account is just over $500k. Out of the typical options...
