I found this thread quite inciteful on Trading arcades vs Trading with a FCM. With regards to leverage I don't see any edge with a trading arcade. The systems might be slightly better but for an outright trader shouldn't really make much difference. Personally my focus would be on commissions...
If you're an experienced trader why not just trade with a FCM like velocity, global or advantage. Whats the point in trading for a prop firm if you have an identifiable edge?
I am looking at a possible move to the Cayman Islands in April. Does anyone know of any arcades there? Has anyone traded US markets from there? The showstopper for me is if the connection to my US based FCM is too slow. Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Yeah I had a lag on the CME CL ladder whereby I'd see/hear a fill first then see the quotes move through my order, i notice an upgrade to the latest X_trader is now required perhaps that will fix it
I've seen the same thing its up and down all morning. Usually their service is pretty good. I notice there's no one available for live chat I guess they only keep US hours which is troubling if you trade European hours
Hi Redrat
I am not running them both at the same time I ran NT to test the connection as OQ was not connecting I have posted in the smartquant forum but no reply as of yet
Thanks
Hi
I am trying to get a connection through TTFIX to the broker velocity futures on the OpenQuant platform. The credentials they supplied me with work on NinjaTrader (which also uses TTFix) but not on OpenQuant. In the logs (FIX.4.2-V02PRICE-TT_PRICES.messages.log) I find the error...
I find velocity very reliable and would recommend them. However they are based the states and AFAIK have no london operations therefore there is about a half second lag in comms across the atlantic
Anyone know of a brokerage that provides london based X_trader servers. I'm currently using velocity futures who are based in New York so theres a hop across the atlantic and I can sometimes see a slight lag.
Thanks
