    Interactive Brokers Charting Poll

I use IB charts and think they're pretty good. The other charts I use are stockcharts.com, which I think is a good frame of reference. Three suggestions: 1) Most important: Let us overlay volume data on the bottom of the chart as can be done with charts at stockcharts.com, this saves...

Transaction tax: an open letter to Don Bright

Thanks to Don for sharing his thoughts on this. I had not seen the comments he had previously made.

Transaction tax: an open letter to Don Bright

Exactly the point which I wanted to add to my original post but was too late to do so. I would think that in any case Don would be concerned because of the sharply decreased volume and wider spreads that would result. My concern is that we can gripe about this as much as we want on ET, but...

Transaction tax: an open letter to Don Bright

I have not seen any comments by Don Bright on the proposed 01.-0.25% tax on financial transactions which would of course include stock trades. This is surprising because I guess it would wipe out many of his traders, or at least make all of them much less profitable. It seems that the...

WSJ today: Democrats Weigh Tax on Financial Transactions

Fantastic. Start your own thread about it or troll elsewhere. Such discussion is not the purpose of this thread. Ignore on.

WSJ today: Democrats Weigh Tax on Financial Transactions

This thread is obviously intended for those readers who do not want to pay more taxes. Your post serves no useful purpose here. There is nothing anyone could say to you that you shouldn't already know. Troll elsewhere or start your own thread. You're on ignore.

WSJ today: Democrats Weigh Tax on Financial Transactions

So can I, but unfortunately the best reason is because it would be sheer stupidity. Stupid seems to be the new smart. So I'm not optimistic.

WSJ today: Democrats Weigh Tax on Financial Transactions

Just wanted to alert everyone as surprisingly I haven't seen any mention of it on ET yet. WSJ article from Saturday October 10 on how the 0.1-0.5% transaction tax seems to be picking up steam with Democrats, European countries, the World Bank, the IMF, etc...

Margin for Leveraged ETFs going up on Dec. 1

I never click on Eric Oberg's or Cramer's articles on the topic as a form of boycott. For Jim it doesn't matter, but for other writers it can make a difference if people aren't clicking their stories.

Margin for Leveraged ETFs going up on Dec. 1

Thanks in part to commentators such as Real Money contributors Eric Oberg and Jim Cramer! So glad you're looking out for the little guys who don't understand what they're buying. Save us from ourselves. But please do keep selling us newsletters from people like Lenny Dykstra!

Are you actually an employee of a prop firm?

My understanding has always been that earnings for a trading activity for one's own account (i.e. independent trader) are not subject to self-employment tax, and this regardless of whether the trader claims the trader tax status or not. Here's an interesting article by Motley Fool on the...

    Reliable Prop Firms ?

GT--I understand that JC is not taking people who have not traded prop before. Do you know anything about that? Thanks, jammy

Settling for Par: Pros More Likely to Play It Safe

Here's a fascinating article about how golfers demonstrate risk-aversion by showing a preference to avoid a perceived penalty (losing a stroke relative to par) rather than go for a perceived gain (gaining a stroke)...
