    Newbie question re: backwardation/contango

Well my point was theoretically assuming no change in the s&p index. Can anyone offer insight why the ES is in backwardation not contango? I would have assumed the future months would be higher even with today's interest rates.

    Newbie question re: backwardation/contango

When I'm reading about futures most books etc advise on always trading the front month. The month with most volume. But lets say you wanted to open a long term long position in the es. Would you buy the front month sept 15 @ 2089.75.... or buy the next month december 2015 @ 2065.75. Is there...

    Having a system vs freewheeling

DB, your stuff (straight line, Wyckoff etc) is intriguing. Do you have an order for reading your stuff that you can point me to? Right now I'm seeing tens of different threads across different trading forums. Maybe you have it compiled in A to Z format?

    Having a system vs freewheeling

Sort of. I made some money in another area of wall street, but my real interest is in trading (something I have had very little practical experience with).

    Having a system vs freewheeling

Most of the literature on trading recommends having some kind of system/set-up and just mechanically exploiting that set-up without emotion. And this is all for rational reasons like grinding out an edge over many trades etc... But from what I've seen of traders like Soros and particularly...
