    Breakout and Gap Stocks

Some interesting analysis here. What do you use to make these charts?

Goldman Sachs says nobody is trading, inactive trading environment is "abnormal".

If market volatility is extremely low, does this suggest we’ve reached the top of the market? With no-one buying and no-one really selling, you would think as time wears on prices will have to come down?

JPM to shed 10k jobs after 20% drop in trading revenue; Dimon might go

Wow, this is quite substantial. Will other banks and brokers have to follow suit? Is this a sign of poorer conditions ahead?

Must trading be your primary interest?

Maybe not trading per se that needs to be your primary interest, but you definitely have to follow the markets and news. It would not be a good idea to just login today and buy a random stock because you felt like it. Keeping up with the newest tech and trends is always a good thing.

The Unofficial Goldman Sachs Guide To Being A Man

This list is awesome. Some of the items here made me laugh but others were pretty true.

I’d like to see posts on all of these topics… They seem like they’d all be needed for developing good strategies.

    Posting trades on Twitter

I certainly agree with the comment above about Twitter being a valuable resource for real-time news. For traders looking to trade based on recent news releases, updates, and so on, Twitter can be really valuable for that and to keep a general eye on the market.

    Why do traders fail?

A lot fail because they expect it to be easy. I run into a lot of people that just think stocks equal mega money. They see movies, shows, and such all glamorizing the rich lifestyle of Wall Street, but it’s not just easy money. It’s actually a real job that requires substantial research.

    Stock market greed/fear indicators

I say up. Gold prices are going to go up as long as the general value of U.S. currency keeps decreasing. As long as the Fed continues to print money, this seems like a reasonably safe bet. Plus, if the market begins to show signs of weakness in 2014, GLD will go up.

    Stock market greed/fear indicators

A market correction is seeming necessary these days. There seems to be too much disparity in the news to be sustainable long term. Household wealth is reaching record levels but at the same time the number of people who are living paycheck to paycheck is also at a record high. Something...

    AAPL Earnings.

I agree with the comments that Icahn cannot really have much influence on Apple. He’s still a relatively small fish in the pond. While it may seem like a lot to the average guy he still doesn’t really have that much of an impact on the board. Cook can easily keep being CEO without Icahn’s...

    yhoo

I could see Yahoo trending back down. 25x P/E with a weak market overall could see a correction downwards especially if we continue to get cautionary numbers.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Seems like the US government is searching for any source of revenue. I don’t like this as it seems like a conduit to further taxes. What’s next, sales tax on stock purchases?

Ex-Goldman Trader Gets Prison, Fined $118 Million

I love the judge’s response to this: “Everything about this case is sad,” Pauley said. “Your employer's response was sad. Your conduct is sad. The government's conduct is sad.” It feels like he has been the judge for these cases one too many times.

Excellent video and very funny. Let’s hope they do a follow-up skit to that.
