    Forex ECN Opinion

Thanks for the reply, I agree 100% with your assessment of IB - it is a phenomenal platform for FX. I am going to stick with my PoP though because the individual service is better as you'd expect. I like to deal on Bloomberg chat sometimes at nights rather than logging in etc and my PoP is...

    Forex ECN Opinion

Hi all, I have just started a relationship with a prime of prime and am trying to select the best ECN. They offer a lot of options but I chose Hotspot to start because I have some familiarity with it. Anyways, I've used for a few days and I'm not impressed. The last look feature leads to a...

    IB leveraged forex, uh what?

I'm trying to choose between oanda and FXCM. Why did you go w oanda?

    IB leveraged forex, uh what?

It sounds like this will apply to all broker dealers because they are SEC registered. FXCM and Oanda are safe for now because they are CFTC as opposed to SEC regulated.

Ok great. Do you have an opinion on FXCM vs Oanda personally?

Thanks for the reply. I'm confused though. I figured worst case scenario I could just open and FXCM account. Why, being a US citizen, would I not be able to trade spot FX on an FXCM account. They have an active trader qualification that lowers commission rates it seems (still $18/million...

    Please recommend a broker

I have been trading with Interactive Brokers for over a year. I love the platform and the service. Unfortunately, they abruptly instituted some regulatory changes requiring leveraged forex traders to be "eligible contract participants." This is loosely defined as an individual or entity worth...

    IB leveraged forex, uh what?

I just received this mail as well. Completely sudden and out of the blue. I spoke with an IB rep and he wasn't able to explain whether the new regulation would be industry wide or just for IB FX. I have used IB for a little over a year for solely forex and have really enjoyed the platform and...

    IB traders

Hi Conduit, I'm not sure if you have seen yet but IB just enacted some new regulatory garbage requiring anyone trading leveraged FX to be an "eligible contract participant." Loosely defined as an entity/individual with net assets in excess of $10 million. Any trader not qualified as an ECP...

I will average down on occasion. But it's not my preferred strategy. Actually, an ex-boss of mine and one of the more successful traders I know used to preach "never add to a loser." I think there is more than one way to skin a cat -- I believe Gartman includes in his own personal rules of...

    IB traders

Here is a screenshot of my activity so far today. I've heard all the criticisms of overtrading but with my career background in spot trading/market making, I have always derived a benefit from being involved in the price action. Trading around a theme or view in an attempt to improve a...

Yes I trade in excess of $5 billion notional most months - usually by mid month as indicated- unless I am out of the office frequently. I do not click in units of 8, I click in units of 4. I rarely have position sizes in excess of $8 million notional, depending on the currency pair. For...

Agree 100% on Citi Velocity. I used it as an auxiliary platform while at the prop shop as a fall back in case the proprietary platform went down. Citi puts each Velocity customer on a spread schedule (gold, silver, bronze I believe) depending on what they thought they could get away with - in...
