Don't think I ever backtested anything, mostly because of all the negative information I'd gotten about that exercise in the distant past. But memory fails me about the specifics. But then I also always thought paper trading was useless since you're not trading with real funds. I've found to my...
You're right it trended down after about 9:45am. Don't know why I thought otherwise, bad memory. Think I had been profitable until around 10am so maybe that was why I thought I remembered it trending up after the open.
I had been having similar problems with the YM when I decided to try another emini for a change. At first I was very surprised and happy with how the NQ behaved, was so much unlike the YM. The NQ's volatility, especially at market open, made for some very fast profits the first 15 minutes...
Yup. The most discouraging thing about this of course is that all I know is countertrend trading, I really have no 'safe' technique for entering a trend, especially if it doesn't pull back much to provide relatively safe entry points. I've come to expect days like this, after several good days...
I could look at the detail and yes up until the east coast lunch hour it was pretty much a ranging situation, but changed into a down trend some time during the lunch hour. My mistake (as always) was waiting to enter whenever it pulled back 'enough'. I'm aware of patterns where it takes a step...
Thx traderking007. Indeed I need to find an edge for days like that. On the range-trading days I do well regardless if it starts gapped up or down. It's just days like today that I feel like I'm 'in their crosshairs'.
So here I'm asking for comments about the difficulties I experience trying to recognize a trending NQ day in time to avoid ending up with a colossal loss. In my case I'm actually trying to pass a oneup trader evaluation. I had passed the $25k a month ago but blew the funded part after it had...
It's like I was saying at beginning of this thread, just an experiment. My problem of fearing shorting, not sure what triggers it. But thought if I reversed everything I could 'fool' my brain - which is hard-wired to only venture into long trades - to see the downward direction as rising...
