Of course it can happen. I've seen it work great. I built some strategies using a few TA concepts. These achieved Sharpe of 2.0 to 3.0 for several years in full production. But I also know and appreciate how difficult it was to get to that point and that TA alone is never enough.
Sorry, this was an accidental double-post.

Your statements are highly questionable. I've also written and operated software that can generate 10 to 100 great looking strategies per hour per CPU node. Such claims by themselves are meaningless.
What is the mean cross correlation of PnL between these strategies on hourly, daily and...
This is true. Here is why:
There are thousands of experienced and very hard working traders and software strategy developers chewing through every form of TA you can imagine on 1000s of markets. TA is the first thing that gets tested in an algorithmic strategy because TA is intuitive and most...
Hard to tell. The quality of visualization looks great. But don't assume great visualization of order books will translate into a great strategy. Traders and hedge funds have been looking at order book and order flow just as long as traditional technical analysis.
I've developed strategies...
Sorry I should have updated this thread earlier.

Definitely no need for KDB+ either. Market data and...
Finding a real competitive advantage is the hardest part. I've seen many smart people fool themselves, then fool others into thinking there is a competitive advantage.
I've seen some that start off with absolutely no competitive advantage, but are good at setting up an office, talking to...

I think you're trying to read too deep here. I am a decent enough software engineer that I know full well what my challenges are. Thus I recognize there are software developers out there that would be quite valuable to have. One of my greatest technical challenges is organizing the trade logic...
Yes similar backgrounds. I would not cherry pick my current co-workers. I really only need one good software engineer to help manage the codebase and strategy design/performance space. The rest can be done by me.
I'm not sure what exact point you're trying to make regarding the numbers of...
My story so far...
I develop automated trading strategies for a company that will remain anonymous. Out of respect I will avoid saying or suggesting anything negative except of course to acknowledge there are problems that have caused me to threaten to quit twice and brings me to this post...
