    Question to WTS traders.

Hello, Just wanted to post a correction rate is much more advantageous than the .20/100 posted - for traders in trading program its .20/1000 with a 50/50 split. From what i understood WTS is interested in advertising on elitetrader.

The 3 day class at Bright Trading in July 2008

From my perspective, it was a very positive experience. It re-kindled my interest in trading and being a productive member of the trading community.

    Daytrading 1999-2000

Heard of Schonfeld trader making more than Michael Jordan (20 mil plus) in 2000, heard of Assent (then Andover trader) making over $1 million/day, heard of ETG traders making over 250k/day. this was truly a "golden age of prop trading" Today, I hear of a Genesis trader making over 100k/mo.

    Milton Friedman dies

Remember watching Friedman debating Samuelson during my college years at Ohio state. Samuelson had written the text we used, but Friedman was a more effective debater and generally more entertaining. Friedman one of the real economic giants.

    UC Berkeley Senior Needs Guidance

Your 3.6 from Berkeley puts you in a good position for a position in the corporate world. (Of course law school would seem to make a lot of sense - considering your major, your GPA and the university). Interview on campus for a position with a major firm or go the law route. If after...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

There's been a fair amount of new construction in Manhattan (primarily in fact almost exclusively condos.) This phenomenon probably explains to a great degree the interesting findings of the chart.

Say it ain't so, Joe and other bitter truths

As a resident of Connecticut, I voted for LaMont over Lieberman in the Tuesday primary. I have to admit that I was undecided until several hours before casting my ballot. I thought Lieberman was probably the better candidate - however, my problem was the Iraq War. What sealed my...

    29% gross or 65% net?

Agree this firm gives large buying power - but I never saw a salary (If its the firm mentioned earlier in the link) - they also don't necessarily like overnights. After all prop. firms make most of their money on churn.

Anyone ever heard of the Oxford Club?

Have been member since 2003 and Oxford Club offers some decent investment advice. They've done a good job on many of their recommendations such as Fording Canadian Coal FDG recommended Nov 2003. Bought 1000 shares at 25 sold several months later in 35-40 range. Stock was not stopped out...

job choice help! Goldman Sachs or Trading Firm???

I would go with Goldman. However, it seems you like the options opportunity so my advice would be synthesize the comments you've received with your own aspirations and arrive at a decision.

Collecting unemployment while working at a prop firm

My understanding is that you are never technically employed at most all prop firms (i.e., have employee status). A prop trader has independent contractor status.

    Schonfeld Vs. Carlin

In my opinion (I was initially "hired" by Jeff Mester 11 years ago), Jeff along with Bob Kanter were the driving forces behind ETG. I'm sure Jeff will make it thru the REFCO situation and re-invent himself.

    Ebbers 30 years

Actually, I'd rather see some of the Enron crew get a heavier sentence than Ebbers. They were shrewder business people than Ebbers (an ex-football or wrestling coach) and probably had more of a premeditated motive to injure people.
