No, that's not true, at least by my experience. I was holding Nasdaq position, GILD, halted during the day. IB released it as soon as NASDAQ resumes trading.

Thanks for the help. I will check it out with Genesis later. By the way, IB allows this. So, I can put tens of orders at the same time. I begin to cancel them as other orders are filled. Obviously IB will auto liquidate positions if 4 to 1 margin is violated.

JMowery1987 or someone else: Let me ask you about the definition of buying power. Do I have to place orders up to the buying power? Or can I place unlimited orders even though the execution is limited by the buying power? For example, if I have 10K buying power can I place 10K limit order...

I hope any IB representative here can help this issue. It seems that only new accounts with 6 digit id are affected, not the 'old' ones with 5 digit id. Before IB made some changes on their servers, I can backfill and see quotes for say, AAPL, using the 3rd party software like Amibroker...

Yes, I did. But, those guys do not know what is going on and are not willing to help. A one line reply: check with the software vendor.

I talked to some other people using IB and Amibroker. It seems that this is related with IB accounts. Some accounts are working properly, but some are not working. Would someone at IB check this issue? Thanks. ggoom

I am using Amibroker with IB data for charts and tech. analysis. Today, nothing works saying that, for example, AAPL is not a valid symbol. TWS is working fine, so I guess IB changed the format of symbol names. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks. ggoom

I begin to see new error message in TWS saying that it could not determine the value of position when I initiate it. This is regular stock positions, so it should not happen. Never happened before this week. If I re-transmit it it goes without any problem. But, quite often I have to do this...
