It would be nice to be able to get out of or enter a position when news hits, but the spreads would kill you. They are bad enough for stocks at those hours, options would be even worse. And a lack of liquidity would just make it messy for the retail trader.

Item #1 will help immensely. Make the bastards get a normal 9-5 job when they get out of office. Live with the people and the laws they set while in office.
