FSSAI is basically the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. A regulatory body, established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Both, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Government of India act as the administrators and the consultants for the FSSAI Food License. It is the responsible body for setting standards for food and its processes, along with having the authority to penalize non-compliant businesses. FSSAI is a legal entity based in Delhi, with offices located throughout India to ease businesses get their FSSAI License. Sometimes it may also be referred to as the Food Authority of India.
The aim is to ensure that the food products that are being delivered to the consumers are wholesome and fit for human consumption.
