    this is good for the economy given that most of the money will be spent on U.S contractors & U.S soldiers that will spend their earnings on U.S goods when the war ends. I would have to say this one of the largest transfers of wealth from U.S tax payer to U.S shareholder.

    I don't know the exact formula for calculating the carry for you problem but re check your calculation. cash bonds & notes versus note & bonds futures your cost of carry would realized cash spread versus futures spread.
