Agree with you 100,000,000%. Back test and see how many points you can gain
for each month - and see for the whole year. Do it at least 2 years.
If your back test works, then practice your mentallity.
Find a strategy then back test if for 6 months to 2 years.
If it works then start paper trading on your brokers demo account for 1 month.
Do it without emotion.
The most important part is find a strategy that really works.
Do that by back testing for at least 6 months.
Doesn't matter...
So what's the difference if my last trade of the year is
on Dec?? What if my last trade if the year is on July???
What makes it different?
As I said, I trade BAC, RIMM everyday, same pattern
(strategy) everyday.
Thanks TakeAChance,
My question is very straight forward with an example.
All I need is a straight forward answer, either yes or no with
a explanation. Which that is what you gave me. I've seen in another
forum about this topic and there wasn't any clear answer at all. Just
running...
Thanks Free Thinker.
Some months I trade so frequently. But at the end of the month I ended up making only less than 1 point.
Think about it how frustrated it is. Sometimes I win 12 points and lose 11 points for that month, ended up making profit only 1 point.
If I would have to pay tax...
Still confused.
Ok lets make it plain and simple.
Let's say for the whole year of 2010.
I trade BAC for hundreds of trades,
I made money on my wins = $100,000.
I lose money on my loses = $40,000.
So I finally made a profit...
SPRSTPD...
Why only for December? I don't understand.
But looks like I and my accountant don't really know anything about tax in this situation.

I read that link. I'm glad that i'm wrong. I'm glad that my accountant is wrong and doesn't know anything. Think i'm gonna find a accountant who really knows clearly about tax for day traders.
Still confused about taxes on my trades. I buy - sell, short - cover BAC and RIMM all day everyday...
SPRSPTD
I can't stop trading the same stock for another 30 days.
I use the same strategy everyday on the same stock (BAC, RIMM)
I really wonder about other traders in here how they handle it. Because I gaurantee for sure that most of the traders do trade the same stock within +/- 30...
Just wanna share another topic on my experience.
During the last 2 weeks I traded BAC for 80 trades (both enter and exit). I made a total of
Wins $5880
Lost $2160
Overall I made $3720
My Commissions on bundled with IB was $1200
(80 trades x 3000 shares per trade (comm = 0.005))...
