    The Future Of Systems Trading?

I agree with you, but not because I think succesful strategies are incredibly difficult to build. Yes, of course it's a time consuming and often frustrating experience. And yes, some people are far more skilled & knowledgable than others in the field. However, with those caveats in place, I see...

    MOC exits for daytraders

It strikes me that flattening MOC (Market On Close) orders are often the exit of choice for trades with the day's trend. Especially when combined with protective OCO (One Cancels the Other) stops. Perhaps unwisely, I rarely use this tactic. Do you?

Nothing Beats Price Action, Everything Else is Derivative

I'd say indicators, volume, breadth and other non-price data can have their uses. It depends on the context and the job in hand. Others might say it's philosophically unsound to state an absolute case versus the rest of the world. But despite all that, I think price action is king

    Acrary is a genius!

I don't understand where our difference of opinion comes from. If "smoother" means less volatility in a return stream, intuitively (to me at least) this means less risk / more stability. Assume a single strategy and a portfolio strategy return the same %gain for a given risk per trade over a...

    Acrary is a genius!

Wouldn't you say that 5 positive expectancy, uncorrelated strategies running together are likely to create a smoother return stream than 1 strategy run with 5 units of risk? With respect, does your point require a definition of risk reward to be made?

    Sell In May!

Like a lot of people, I'd heard that line ' Sell in May'. However, when should one buy the market in the first place? I ran some tests on monthly S&P data once to find out. Buy on the first of month x, Flatten on the first of month y over 20 years or so. Turns out the best combination...

    Classification by trend and volatility

For a short term volatility versus long term volaility answer, how about 5 day ATR vs 50 period average of 5 day ATR? Or an alternative measure, 5 day $ Range vs 50 period average of 5 day $ Range? Or measure noise/goodness of fit to the regressed slope via R-squared?

    Actual trades you're considering

Just chopped out at 2655 in the pre market after getting in at 2280 the day after the blip down. Even a blind squirrel finds the occasional nut.

do you use other time series than price and volume within your ATS?

he's newer, more broadminded and $160 more expensive than me :)

do you use other time series than price and volume within your ATS?

Very interesting... How do you manage the AI/human function? Do you apply that kind of decision making within predefined parameters / specific situations? cheers, es175
