    Identifying an edge

Thanks again guys that's great... If I am consistently making money I would suspect that I have an edge, but not conclude it, because I realize things change. However I'm talking mostly about the process of identifying an edge. Maybe I should have asked how "does one go about identifying...

    Identifying an edge

thanks gentlemen for the feedback... I have entry and exit points in terms of price and I'm fairly disconnected emotionally for the trade so I'm very good at sticking to my plan. I risk a small portion of my bankroll. I suppose I'm wondering how you've identified that strategy that has...

    Identifying an edge

Hello, I've accumulated a lot of knowledge on how things work, and what to do when certain conditions are in my favour, however I suppose the challenge is knowing when to execute a trade. I was wondering how you successful traders with an "identifiable edge" found your edge. Is it a...

    Need an advanced options book

wow, it's been a while since I've posted I would say the "The Bible of Options Strategies" isn't very useful if you've studied option strategies and you're well acquianted with them. I think McMillan's book is better IMO. It's kind of like buying a multiplication table... it's not so...

Hello, I'm trying to make sense of the Wolfram Alpha daily return charts. I'm sorry if this doesn't belong in this section, I couldn't think where else to put it. It was either this or options trade... http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=jpm We'll use JPM as an example. If these...

    any good reads on options?

I think being a rookie still myself, I can say that McMillan and Natenbergs books serve two completely different purposes. I read Natenberg first, and in hindsight should have read McMillan before that. Personally, I think that McMillan provides a solid foundation for each strategy...

    Implied Distribution from Skew

hey, that's really helpful actually... what I really want to know is if I can identify a discrepancy in the statistical-skew (tails) and kurtosis of logarithmic returns than the market it implying. I would still use BS... but if there's a more simple way to trade skew/kurtosis I'm game.

    Implied Distribution from Skew

thank you so much Denis, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. I am aware of the ND function and all of that math. I've read and believe I understood Natenberg's book. So I must be missing something to converting the skews into a distribution... I suppose if I get...

    Implied Distribution from Skew

hey dennis, thanks for the offer! I want to take you up on it, b/c I don't yet... but I haven't had a chance to go through the patent doc yet. I don't think it would be fair to ask before I go through and read it. What do you mean by language? Programming language?

    Newbie questions

IMO options have a place in value investing. If you own a company, you like this company, and you're following them as meticulously as Common Stocks, security analysis or Intelligent Investor would want, then you can use options as a hedge against any temporary difficulties (buy puts)...
