Basically I trade us equities and options thereon also currency futures at the CME But I have a large cash balance, clearly the UK insurance will not cover it, hence my concern.

So basically if you only trade US derivatives you are covered by SIPC?

I just logged into account management and got asked what I want to do, said no don't want it. My account shows as IB UK so I have written to support and asked if I am covered by SIPC or FSCS? I will post when I get the reply.
