    How you guys do it?

Take notice of high Beta when choosing a stock. Many stocks exhibit similar patterns to the general market on intraday. (Especially bank stocks.) You may as well just trade the ETFs.

    Fastest NYSE Executions?

Some stocks trade for over $100. It probably would not look suspicious for retail traders to odd lot these. (Although such stocks usually have crummy spreads.)

    Trying Scalps

Trader924: It's TD Waterhouse. I know about IB now, of course, but I'm inclined to move the account to Cybertrader. I do like to keep some mutual funds as a hedge (since I'm personally incapable of doing any true long-term investing.) I already sold most of my positions Friday. I've got half my...

    Trying Scalps

Well you're right, I tried it again today and go whipsawed all over the place. But I knew going in, it would be a difficult day to trade. Options expiring, war starting... But I figured I should plunge in and give myself a taste of evil. "Normal days" should be easier in comparison. Even...

    Let's have more smilies!

Who says "eight is enough?" Here are some examples (lots more possibilities out there on the internet, tho') <img src="http://sidwag.home.mindspring.com/smiles/cry.gif"> <img src="http://sidwag.home.mindspring.com/smiles/rolleyes.gif"> <img...

    Trying Scalps

Yeah, after I posted that message, I made one more profitable scalp, followed by one that could have been profitable... but I waited too long. Finally had to cover at the end of the day for a small loss. NO WAY am I gonna carry size short overnight, with the possibility of news that Saddam...

    Trying Scalps

I've been doing swing trading for the last 6 months, basically breaking even for my efforts. (Maybe I'm just not patient enough to let profits accumulate.) So, I figure, what the heck, I'm at home for the next few days, I'll try this "daytrading biz." And.... I managed to scalp SPY...

    Indexes Overbought?

Well, I'm conservative in assessing a counter-move. I wouldn't expect such a strong uptrend to drop below it's moving average. But I have to wonder what kind of expectation buyers have had the last 48 hours. Another 10% in six days? Yeah, right..

    Indexes Overbought?

If you examine charts of the S&P or Dow, versus a short moving average or an envelope channel, things sure look overbought from a short term perspective. Even last year's rally from the October low "regressed to the mean" a few days after the biggest climbs. So I suspect the "war rally" is...

How much are you willing to pay for a technique that guarantee winning everytime?

It is just today's holy grail. The trading in another decade will have discarded it.

For Those making over $50K a year

I think we need a poll as to whether he should be allowed to post another poll

how did you do when first started trading

I started trading in 1993, trying to short my own employer's stock. No inside knowledge. No technical analysis. Just "Hey, look how high it is! It doesn't belong up there! I'll short it and make money." But I wasn't content to do that alone. I also would look in the newspaper for stocks...
