how much better are the fills on NYSE when using a floor broker route than without a floor broker? how pronounced is this advantage at the close as opposed to other times of the day?

anyone on here trade for firms like SIG, Optiver, JSC, etc. who provide you with a salary to start? what's that business like and where is going? are algorithms killing it? how do you get into one of those firms?

what are the main differences between prop and retail firm models? what are some of the pros and cons to each? are there any retail firms that offer sub $1 per thousand shares commissions? seems like retail firms typically have higher commissions than prop, is that true?
