right before the gulf war, just different sectors gettting taken to the wood shed one by one. airlines, banks, retail......back then it was techstuff, thebells (bell south), then serial acquirers ( aes, tyco)..looks like panic selling that needs cash.....good luck,

I think the last time we ran up this kind of debt was in '40-41 helping allies (including Russia) with emergency war supplies.
