Anyone have a good source for historical "shares outstanding" information

CSIData is excellent for the EOD price data, but they do not sell historic financials. There's a screening tool in open beta testing at emphasisdata.com; that includes past financials for all US stocks, including the delisted issues, back about fifteen years. That might help you out.

How do I get accurate historical data for backtesting NYSE and TSX stocks?

Depends on what data you need -- EOD, tick data? Financials?

Where can I find Fundamental Stock information in a database?

S&P Compustat would be most comprehensive and also the most expensive; I believe a license goes for about $150K these days. You can get quarterly data back to 1962 and annual back to at least 1950; they also offer a "point in time" product that contains 30 years of snapshots of financials as...

Historical EOD data on delisted stocks

If you only care about delisted S&P 100 components up to 6-7 years back, that doesn't sound like terribly many companies. Do you have a list of the companies for which you need data?

    MQC-- 40% discount to NAV

Originally, this was a blank check company, i.e. a company with a boatload of cash and no operations of its own, looking to acquire or invest in some other public or private company with operations. A couple months ago they acquired an interest in a couple Indian securities firms (SMC Global...

Where can I receive fundamental historical data

Sky, What, in particular, are you looking for? If the answer is "20+ years of survivor bias free, point in time, backfill bias free, lookahead bias free data with complete financial statement variables and analysts' forward estimates to boot", then forget about getting it for cheap. In fact...

    Stocks trading below net cash?

There are lots of companies with cash greater than their debt, or even greater than all their liabilities: I count about 2,000 currently. If you get yourself a screener, you should be able to find some with whatever other characteristics you like. As some extreme examples, here are a few...

where to find historical EPS Rev

ADVFN.com has pretty good fundamental data, and it's free. For most U.S. stocks, you should be able to get quarterly or annual EPS/revenue numbers back to 1993 or the IPO date, whichever's later. (Note that the EPS and other per-share numbers are adjusted for splits.) For example...

End of week/month symbol list needed

I suppose you want this information to compile a list of delisted/dropped stocks? There's a long list of delisted US stocks here, from the NASDAQ, NYSE and AMEX markets: http://www.codehappy.net/charts/delisted_stocks.txt If you're interested in delisted OTCBB stocks, the OTCBB daily...

    Is trading completely useless?

Please explain the momentum effect to me, then. Or long-term memory in stock returns. Or, any autocorrelation in stock returns. It's there, it's highly statistically significant, and it isn't going to go away no matter how much EMH True Believers wish it would. Investors are irrational and...

:D Well, they are. And they also are (or were, anyway) all traded on one of the NYSE, NASDAQ or AMEX. But they do all share one interesting property besides the obvious.
