    Need 10:1 Leverage

This is half correct. Yes, if you are holding the position when the CME deems it "marginable" at 4pm CT but there are many futures brokers who want the commissions that will let you take the trade off just before the cutoff and put it back on after the 5pm open at $500 margins. You cna then hold...

    Need 10:1 Leverage

If you are willing to deposit $25,000 firms (some that are sponsors on here so they can chime in) will offer you $500 margins at night. So with $25,000 you can hold 50 contracts. With each ES around $125,000 in value you would be trading $6.25m in notional value. Simple math an $500 margins...

The race to zero in endless online brokerage-fee war already has been won

For the big firms like Schwab trading revenues do not really matter. Take Schwab (SCHW) for example. Only 11% of total revenue comes from trading fees. They are a bank and fees related to deposits and margin loans are what drive the bulk of revenues. In the first quarter of 2017 core net new...

OptionsCity launches CityTrader, a cloud-based futures trading platform

This is a good point and sad. You are right, the more you trade the more FCMs make so options get no love. In addition to less transaction revenue they raise the FCMs SPAN margin which in turn raises that firm's capital requirement. A lose, lose for the FCM.

    hitting the bid

It is impossible to know the risk without knowing what commodity or contract your are referring. Since you say "contract" I assume you mean futures so let's assume this is the ES (e-mini S&P) one of the most popular. If the index is at 2100 the notional value of 200 contracts would be 2100 *...

    Traders Hall of Fame...

So true. I really used to enjoy ET. Now it seems like it is a site for Ninja and AMP's personal battle. I realize they pay the bills for ET but in my opinion it has come at a cost to the site. Do I really care if both have a webinar at 3pm?
